Graduating seniors continue to have high hopes for the future, despite the economy.
Liz Bryant, whose emphasis is broadcast journalism, said she has enjoyed her time and achievements at the UA and plans to use her journalism degree.
Bryant, a senior from Tulsa, said she has wanted to be a news anchor since she was 10.
“Ever since I was younger I wanted to be an actress or be on television,” Bryant said, “When I was about 10 I decided I wanted to be a news anchor.”
At the UA, Bryant has gotten experience through UATV, summer internships with MTV and CBS and journalism competitions.
When she got to Fayetteville as a freshman, she quickly became involved with UATV. She was the public relations director for the campus station and produced nightly newscasts for which she also reported and anchored. |
Along with the time she put in it at UATV, she attended many Arkansas sporting events as the local reporter for the Fox News and Fox Sports affiliate Palestra.net. She got some national experience by interning in New York with MTV and WCBS-TV, Channel 2.
Bryant is proud of what she accomplished at the UA. In addition to numerous awards, she graduated with a 3.5 GPA.
Bryant says she feels lucky that she was able to work with the professors at the UA.
“I have been taught by some of the best in the business," she said. "Whether it is operating a camera, editing a piece or interviewing someone for a story, I have learned from professors unlike many could ever have."
Bryant's initial goal is to report on a national level as a sideline reporter for ESPN or international reporter on CNN.
